Best Time to Visit Besisahar
When to visit Besisahar — autumn and spring for clear views, dry roads and ideal trekking and rafting weather.
The best time to visit Besisahar is autumn (October to November) and spring (March to April) — the dry, stable seasons that bring clear mountain views, reliable roads and ideal conditions for starting the Annapurna Circuit and rafting the Marsyangdi. These are the peak trekking windows for the whole Annapurna region, so Besisahar is at its busiest and most rewarding then.
Season by season
Autumn (October–November)
The classic season. Skies are clear after the monsoon, the air is crisp, and views of Lamjung Himal and Gangapurna are at their sharpest. This is the busiest time on the Annapurna Circuit from Besisahar, so book ahead.
Spring (March–April)
Warm, stable and colourful, with rhododendron in bloom in the hills and good trekking and rafting weather. Views are excellent, though slightly hazier than autumn. A second peak season for the trailhead.
Monsoon (June–September)
Hot, wet and green, with leeches, hidden peaks and landslide risk on the rough valley road to Chame and Manang. The Marsyangdi runs very high. The least ideal time for views and trekking, but the hills are lush.
Winter (December–February)
Mild by day in low-lying Besisahar with cool nights and often clear skies, but the high circuit is cold and the Thorong La pass can be snowbound. Fine for visiting the town itself.
