Nepal Itineraries

Every Nepal itinerary in one place — pick by how long you have, which region you want, or your travel style.

Nepal rewards travellers who plan around the clock rather than the map: the country is small but slow, so the single biggest decision is how many days you have. These ready-made itineraries are organised four ways — by trip length, by region, by city and short route, and by travel style — each with realistic day-by-day pacing that accounts for winding highways, weather-prone flights and trek acclimatisation.

How to choose your plan

Start with length to set the shape of the trip, then layer on a region or style. Short on time? The 4- and 5-day plans deliver a tight Kathmandu-and-Pokhara taste. Two weeks is the sweet spot for cities plus a proper trek; a month reaches the remote far west and Mustang. Browse the plans below and follow the linked city, trek and region guides to fill in the detail.

Frequently asked questions

How many days do you need for Nepal?+

Seven days is the realistic minimum to enjoy Kathmandu and Pokhara without rushing. Ten days lets you add Chitwan or a short trek, two weeks fits a proper Himalayan trek, and three weeks or a month opens the remote regions. Match the itinerary to your time rather than cramming — the by-length plans below pace each option realistically.

What is the best Nepal itinerary for first-timers?+

Most first-timers do best with the 10-day or two-week plan: the Kathmandu Valley, a short trek, and either Chitwan wildlife or Pokhara's lakes. It covers the highlights without the long days or altitude of a three-week trek. See the first-time-in-Nepal orientation and the by-length plans below.

Should I plan my Nepal trip by length or by region?+

Use both. The by-length plans tell you how to pace the days you have; the by-region plans (Everest, Annapurna, the valley, the Terai, the east, the far west) tell you where to go. Pick a length to set the shape, then a region to fill it in.

Do these itineraries include trekking?+

Many do. The short city plans keep to day hikes, the 10-day and two-week plans include short treks, and the three-week, off-beat and trek-and-culture itineraries build around longer routes. Pick the one that matches how much walking you want.
