A boat trip on Phewa Lake is the quintessential Pokhara experience. You can row yourself or hire a boatman, paddle out to the Tal Barahi island temple, and — on a clear morning — watch the Annapurna and Machhapuchhre peaks mirror in the water.

Best time to go

Head out early morning, when the water is calmest and the mountain reflections are sharpest. Late afternoon is good for golden light but can get breezy.

Good to know

  • Boats are hired from jetties along Lakeside; life jackets are provided.
  • Combine it with a climb to the World Peace Pagoda, which you can reach by boat plus a short hike.
