The World Peace Pagoda, or Shanti Stupa, is a brilliant white Buddhist monument on a forested ridge south of Phewa Lake. It's both a peaceful spot and one of Pokhara's best viewpoints, taking in the lake, the city and the Annapurnas.

How to do it

The most rewarding way is to boat across Phewa Lake and hike up through the woods — pair it with a boat trip on Phewa Lake. Prefer to skip the climb? A taxi or scooter reaches it by road.

Good to know

  • Go in the morning for the clearest mountain backdrop.
  • Dress modestly — it's an active religious site.
