Temple Tree Resort & Spa

Temple Tree Resort & Spa is one of Pokhara's nicer Lakeside resorts, with Newari-influenced brick architecture, a garden pool and a spa. It's a comfortable, mid-to-upper-range base that's still walkable to everything Lakeside — close enough to the lake and the cafe strip to wander out on foot, yet set back enough to feel calm once you're back inside the gate. The brick-and-timber look draws on Kathmandu Valley Newari design, which gives the grounds more character than the plain concrete blocks that line much of the strip.

Who it suits

This is a good pick if you want proper resort facilities — a pool to swim in, a spa to unwind in, and a restaurant and bar on site — without giving up the convenience of the Lakeside strip. It tends to suit couples, honeymooners and anyone treating Pokhara as a place to slow down rather than a launchpad for dawn starts. It's also a popular reward for travellers coming off an Annapurna trek, when a hot shower, a swim and a quiet garden to sit in matter more than anything else. Location

The resort sits in Gaurighat, one of the quieter, greener stretches towards the southern end of Lakeside, away from the busiest run of bars. You're still only a short stroll from the shore of Phewa Lake and the main line of cafes, bakeries and shops, so you get the calm without a long walk or a taxi every time you want dinner or a coffee. That balance — quiet grounds, everything within reach — is the main reason to book here rather than deeper into the strip.

Getting there

Most visitors reach Pokhara by road from Kathmandu or on a short domestic flight. However you arrive, Lakeside is a straightforward taxi ride from both the airport and the tourist bus park — it's worth noting the Gaurighat location so a driver drops you near the door rather than at the busier northern end of the strip. Once you've settled in, Lakeside is best explored on foot, or by hired bicycle or scooter.

What's nearby

Being on the Lakeside puts the best of Pokhara within easy reach. The lake itself is the obvious first stop: hire a wooden boat and paddle out to the island temple — Tal Barahi, Pokhara's best-known shrine — or simply walk the shoreline in the late afternoon. For the classic dawn view over the Annapurnas, Sarangkot is a short drive up the ridge, and the white dome of the World Peace Pagoda sits across the water, reached by a rewarding short hike.
