Zipline in Pokhara

Ride one of the world's steepest ziplines from Sarangkot down toward the Seti River, hitting speeds over 100 km/h.

The Pokhara zipline is one of the steepest and fastest commercial ziplines on the planet — a near-vertical plunge from the Sarangkot ridge down toward the Seti River gorge. It is roughly 1.8 km long with about 600 m of vertical drop, and riders regularly hit speeds over 100 km/h, all with the Annapurna skyline filling the view ahead. No experience is needed; you ride in a full harness with full operator supervision.

What the ride is like

After being driven up to the launch on the Sarangkot ridge — the same hill used for tandem paragliding and sunrise viewing — you are clipped into a seated harness on twin steel cables. The drop is sharp enough that the first second feels like free-fall before the cable catches you and you accelerate down the hillside. The ride itself lasts only a couple of minutes, but the steep gradient and the speed make it one of Pokhara's biggest single hits of adrenaline.

How to do it

  • Getting there: Operators include transport from Lakeside up to the Sarangkot launch and a return vehicle from the bottom landing.
  • Time needed: Allow two to three hours door to door, even though the ride is brief.
  • What to wear: Closed shoes, secured glasses and no loose items; lockers or storage are provided at the top.
  • Combining it: Many visitors pair the zipline with an early Sarangkot sunrise or a paragliding flight on the same ridge.

Season and safety

Like Pokhara's flying sports, the zipline runs best in clear, dry weather, so October to April is ideal — check the best time to visit Pokhara before booking. Rides are usually suspended in heavy rain or high wind during the monsoon. The route uses redundant cables, braking systems and a guided briefing, but as with any adventure sport in Nepal, choose an established operator and follow the instructions.

Where it fits

The zipline is one of the core thrills in the Pokhara adventure sports cluster. If you want something even more intense and ground-based, pair it with the bungee and swing tower. For the slower side of Pokhara, balance it with a paddleboard on Phewa Lake, and use the Pokhara hub to plan the rest of your stay.
